Does silicone sheeting really help treat keloids?

I've had a keloid since the age of 10 when I got the chicken pox. over the years it has grown and I would like to know if there is a way to shrink it or get it removed. Does anyone know of anything?

Does silicone sheeting really help treat keloids?
There are laser therapys that can help reduce the thickness of the keloid, and sometimes a good plastic surgeon can resect the scar. How sucessful that would be is hard to predict. Keloids formation is the pattern of scar healing some folks have, and you can never predict how the skin will react to an injury. One advantage lasers and even resecting might have to offer is that you could be treating the skin during the healing process to help influence how the final scar will look. Your best bet is to consult with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon and find out exactly what, if anything, they could offer you.
