It depends on the scar. If it is not an old scar, you can try using one of the occlusive dressings. They are marketed as "scar reducing" patches and are put on and left on for 24-72 hours. If the scar is really red, it could be infected. In that instance, you would need to see your doctor for medication. If the scar is an old one, try hydrocortisone cream (available at Walmart, etc).
