Does anyone know of any prevention for keloids? how do I find the right specialist or dermatologist?

I would like to have my ears pierced again but without the worry that I might have some unwanted scar tissue along with it.

Does anyone know of any prevention for keloids? how do I find the right specialist or dermatologist?
Keliods and hyoertropic scarring is a scar combination build up of both skin cells and connective tissue that build up and scab over the wound. these are known as fibroblasts. With keloid scarring, the fibroblasts keep growing, hence you get red, raised, often tender scarring. This is due to an over abundance of collagen in th scar itself.

There may even be a genetic connection. This is common especially in dark toned people, and dark haired people, but can happen to anyone.

The prevention of keloids can be as simple as don't gain the scar, but that isn't what your after. Treatments for keloids range from laser surgugical removal, compression bandaging, steroidal use, and silicone patches that could be cut into little circles with a pierced middle to where with your earrings. Some suggest that treatments such as vitamin and herbal immune sustaining suppliments such as vitamin E, evening primrose oil caps, a good b-complex and of course, vitamin C. Hydrating yourself with water and juice will also promote healthy tissue. Massage to bring about good blood flow is also an option.

There is a new topical homeopathic ointment called ELICINA® is a unique skin regenerating substance proven effective for the treatment of all types of scars. It stops itching, softens and helps to remove keloid scars and reduce pitted or ice pick scars. It also prevents scarring and acts as a natural remedy for acne.

Elicina is not a man made drug, pharmaceutical or medicine. It is gathered from the secretions left on his paths by the Chilean snail Helix Aspersa Müller. The very same he uses to quickly regenerate his own shell and skin when damaged. After years of proven effects, scientific validation and the invention of a patented process to make it into a topical cream, now presented as a natural remedy for acne and scars.

The secret of Elicina® lies in it's seven natural bio-available ingredients. They are: Natural Antibiotics, Glycolic Acid. Allantoin and Peptides (amino-acid chains that are parts of proteins and trigger skin cell reproduction and replacement of damaged cells), Collagen, Elastin, and Vitamins. All in a natural form, and combined in one unique and balanced substance by nature's wisdom itself.

Reply:There is no sure way to prevent keloids. Keloids are scar tissue that keeps grow past the healing of a wound. Keloids are mostly found in minorities. They can be remove by a specialist but doesn't guarantee that they won't regrow.
Reply:I had a keloid process on my ear years ago and had to have it removed. Forego the earrings...it is a genetic thing and you can't avoid them if you are predisposed to them. I had multiple piercings in my ears (I am a girl) and the doctors told me that although the lump was benign this time, it might not be so next time. It's not worth the risk - there is other ways of enhancing your looks than earrings.
