Does anybody have any home remedies for removing keloids?

I know it sounds disgusting but I know someone who is too afraid to go to the hospital and wants to get rid of it themselves in the comfort of their own home.

Does anybody have any home remedies for removing keloids?
There are some (silicone?) patches that you can buy from the chemist, they go onto scars and can help smooth them but it takes a long time and the results may not be too good. You have to stick them on and leave them for several weeks (they can be washed)

Are you sure its keloid? There is a similar scaring called hypotrophic which may be improved surgically.

From Wikipedia:

Two types of scars are the result of the body overproducing collagen, which causes the scar to be raised above the surrounding skin. Hypertrophic scars take the form of a red raised lump on the skin, but do not grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound, and they often improve in appearance after a few years. Keloid scars are a more serious form of scarring, because they can carry on growing indefinitely into a large, tumorous (although benign) growth.

Both hypertrophic and keloid scars are more common on younger and darker skinned people. They can occur on anyone, but some people have a genetic susceptibility to these types of scarring. They can be caused by surgery, an accident, or sometimes by acne. In some people, keloid scars form spontaneously.

There are several suggestions for improving:

Reply:Consult a cosmetic surgeon about it.
Reply:There really is no cure other than surgery which could result in more keloid scarring.

There is a product called bio-oil which is reported to reduce the appearance of scars.
